The Model Society Co., a nationwide modeling staffing agency, was looking for their first website to act as a business card and portfolio to support both talent acquisition and client outreach. Through multiple strategy meetings with the client, we aligned on key goals: showcasing the company’s model portfolio, providing an easy method for clients to contact the agency, and creating a streamlined recruitment process for aspiring models. These conversations helped shape a vision for a minimalist, intuitive website that would highlight the company’s unique brand and serve as a hub for expanding its model roster and client base.
To develop the website’s brand identity, we started with an in-depth discovery phase. I conducted aesthetic explorations based on the client's preferences, focusing on warm brown neutrals, which evoke feelings of professionalism, elegance, and approachability. We explored a variety of potential color palettes and typography styles, eventually settling on tones that would stand out in the modeling agency industry. This was critical, as many of the client’s competitors lacked a strong branded website, positioning The Model Society Co. as a leader in their market.
By focusing on warm neutrals, we emphasized authenticity and trust, which resonated well with both clients and models. The fonts were chosen for their elegance and readability, ensuring that the website not only looked professional but also made navigating the site easy for users.
When designing the website, the focus was on creating a simple, intuitive user experience. By conducting interviews with the client, models, and potential clients, I was able to identify the most critical elements of the website, such as forms for model applications and client inquiries. These forms were made prominent and easy to use, ensuring that all users could quickly and effectively interact with the site.
Accessibility was also key. I ensured that the website adhered to best practices by using accessible color contrasts, clear typography, and intuitive form design. These features enhanced usability for all audiences, including those with visual impairments, ensuring the website met industry standards.
Built from the ground up using Squarespace, I developed the site to be both visually appealing and highly functional. Custom integrations with tools like Eventbrite (for scheduling model bookings) and Hootsuite (for social media management) allowed The Model Society Co. to manage bookings, scheduling, and social media from a centralized platform, streamlining day-to-day operations. This meant the client could focus on scaling their business without needing to worry about complicated backend operations.
Additionally, the site's minimalist design and straightforward navigation helped improve the client’s operational efficiency by making model applications and client inquiries easier to manage.
From the outset, I implemented SEO best practices to ensure The Model Society Co.'s website performed well on search engines. This included optimizing meta descriptions, using relevant and targeted keywords, creating structured data to highlight important services, and ensuring all images had descriptive alt text. Regular website SEO practices, such as clean URL structures, mobile responsiveness, and fast page load times, were also part of the build to ensure an optimal user experience across all devices.
I also added Google Analytics to track user interactions and provided basic SEO training to the client to maintain performance long-term.
The final website helped The Model Society Co. increase their business by 20% and expand their model roster by 37%. The new website not only positioned them ahead of competitors but also allowed for streamlined recruitment and client interactions, supporting the company’s growing presence in the industry.
